Having a circle in the name of his business holds a certain amount of symbolism for owner Nick Cacchione. Although he doesn’t allude to his experience as coming full circle, his ownership of his restaurants, his history in the area, and his involvement and generosity with local youth sports organizations has, in a sense, brought him back to his beginnings.
Cacchione started as the General Manager of the Winner's Circle Sports Grille back in 2001. And in 2006, he bought it. Along with the Winner's Circle Sports Grille just down the road on West Chester Pike in Edgemont.
"The original owner collected memorabilia as a kid and always had a passion to open a sports grill," says longtime General Manager and new owner Nick Cacchione. "We're the only authentic sports grill in the area. We obviously focus on the Philadelphia teams first and foremost, but we show all sporting events along with great food at casual prices. We are proud to be the only sports-themed restaurant to show all NFL games simultaneously! We also show all hockey, basketball and baseball." |
Nick grew up in Marchwood, lives in Exton now and, except for his college days, has lived in Exton his whole life. As a teenager, he worked at a fast food joint in town - his first foray into the business which became his passion. He played ball in the leagues and on the fields where his 8-year-old son now plays. The same organization that he now proudly donates to and helps clean up.
But Cacchione's ties to Exton don't make his sports grille the hot spot for local sports fans. It's the 42 TV's. It's the fresh - not frozen - ingredients used in the large menu. It's the autographed jerseys from Philly greats and more. It’s the authentic sports memorabilia that covers the walls and hangs from the ceiling. It's the friendly atmosphere and large selection of beer. And most importantly it's the team of great people that work for Nick. "Without great people to work with I wouldn't be where I am today. This business is about people. Not only the guests but the employees which I consider family."
"Our goal is just to make our guests feel they're part of a neighborhood restaurant," explains Cacchione, who keeps the restaurant involved in the community by sponsoring numerous youth sporting organizations. "We're locally owned and operated, and that’s the feel we want to keep," says Cacchione. "We're called a sports grille – not bar - for a reason. We're family-oriented. And we proudly support the community in a big way." Cacchione also owns the Riverstone Cafe, an award-winning upscale casual Tapas restaurant, oyster and martini bar located next door to the Winner's Circle.
To complement the excellent cuisine, the Winner's Circle Sports Grille also offers seasonally changing menus to ensure their guests always have a variety of options from which to choose. The Winner's Circle menu, from Executive Chef Anthony DiStefano and his outstanding culinary staff, offers everything from steaks and seafood to award-winning buffalo wings offered with mild, Winner's Circle Hot or Anna Kournikova
(way hot) sauces. Cacchione boasts that a sandwich special from a few years ago, "The Freak"- an enormous sandwich named for a Philadelphia Eagles Own Jevon Kearse - garnered so much attention that he decided to add a few additional aptly named items to the menu: The Rosenhaus "The Ultimate Weiner" (additional toppings must be negotiated) and "The Axeman" Sandwich (named after the Eagles Linebacker Jeremiah Trotter)
The bar is fully stocked and offers 15 draft beers on tap. Happy hour is offered daily and drink specials can be found on a routine basis. Both locations offer beautiful outdoor patio seating all summer long until well into the Fall. The Winner's Circle also has a large game room for the kids -- both young and old.
